Book carts are the primary means of transporting material between the campus libraries and the library bindery. These packing tips will help to insure that your material will arrive at the bindery safely.

Begin placing books on the bottom shelf first. Once the bottom shelf is fully packed, begin packing books onto the middle shelf. This will keep the center of gravity low on the book cart, making it more stable while it is being transported. DO NOT pack books onto the top and/or middle shelves only, leaving the bottom shelf empty. This will make the book cart “top heavy”, subjecting it to possibly “tipping over” while in transit.

Packed book carts should be wrapped with a clear plastic stretch wrap. The transportation vendor, TRICOR, will wrap the book carts with stretch wrap provided by the library
